Hey Tumblr
I’m fine with you guys doing away with the pornbots and hate blogs. (About time.)
It’s an understandable change but the new system will definately compromise a lot of people on this site who come here for the sole purpose to post and/or view media specifically catered to their niche interests.
I come here to view media from my favorite artists, photographers, animators, film directors, etc. and share them with people who are inspired by a similar aesthetic. People who do post sensitive content from time to time.
I’m here for the weird, the surreal, the pretty, the nasty. Things that other places will take out of context and deem inappropriate. It’s a headspace.
And I can appreciate depictions of death, sex, nudity and grotesque horror in the context of art and find comfort knowing that creators and curators of those interests were allowed to make their content available to people with similar interests. I believe the blogs we follow share such sensitive media with full acknowledgement that is isn’t ‘safe for work’ or meant for everyone on the site. (It’s why we have a search, block and follow.) That’s the kind of culture the site had fostered.
There is context for the audience and consent to showcase to them.
Just my two cents.
Thanks.
